"So, um, Dad...

... did you know that there are some of birds that don't fly?"

I reply, "Really, Brooklyn, what birds would those be?" wondering if she can name any flightless fowl.

"Dead ones."

"I suppose you're right, Brookers."

Touche to the two year-old.

So great. its like the dead monkey in the tree joke, and the obviousness leaves you standing in a puddle of your own urine

Will be sending her a book on flightless fowl for Christmas. There is the ring-necked gimpy, for one, who cannot fly and whose legs are not the same length...they migrate in circles.

Think about it.

I think Brooklyn is just about the only three year old who would make that observation!

I showed this to my coworkers. Needless to say, Brooklyn got a thumbs up from all of them.

This is a good one. I still laugh so hard I cry EVERY TIME I remember her visit to Portland...singing at the flag. Brooklyn says to Brandon "Shhhh don't sing. Now I have to start over!"
